  A few weeks ago, my son was experiencing major chest pain and I saw right away it was a serious heart attack. I gave him an aspirin and called 911 immediately to request an ambulance. I helped him to the front porch to wait for the ambulance. A pickup drove up and parked in front blocking my driveway. A stranger gets out, walks towards us and the first thing I notice is alcohol on his breath I could smell ten feet away. The guy didn't say a word. Just stood there. I asked who he was and he says... "I'm a first responder". At least twenty more civilian cars arrive (blocking the street) a hook and ladder fire truck, a three wheel motorcycle, a police cruiser, but NO ambulance. There must have been 30 "first responders" milling around, shaking hands,patting each other on the back, and having a good old time chatting with my next door neighbor. Finally a young man brings an oxygen mask (which he forgot to turn on) and puts it on my son making it impossible for him to breathe. He finally turned it on. I asked "Where's the ambulance ?" "Oh" he says,"It's on another call". I decided to take my son to the hospital myself, got him in the car, but couldn't even get out of my driveway let alone down the street because of all the cars blocking the way and all the "first responders" milling about. It was the largest CLUSTER FOUL I've ever seen !! Finally, 45 minutes AFTER I called 911, the ambulance arrived. It was over an hour AFTER I called 911 my son finally got to the hospital less than two miles away. I could have taken him myself in less than 10 minutes. At the hospital, they gave him nitro and got him stabilized. The next day, they put him on a treadmill and made him run until he had ANOTHER heart attack ! Turns out, my son had a 99% blockage in his left ventricle. They call it "The widow maker". Of course we didn't find that out until they transferred him to Ft.Smith the next day because Johnson County Hospital doesn't have a Cardiologist. I will NEVER call 911 again for a medical emergency. I'll drive myself if at all possible. Now I'm afraid if my house is on fire and call 911, they'll send 30 nurses and an ambulance.
